Coxwold the North Yorkshire property hotspot, with a population of just 200, has been officially ranked one of the 10 best villages in Britain.

It featured on Five TV's The Property List: Britain's Best Villages. Coxwold came second only to Chalfont St Giles in Buckinghamshire.

Coxwold Village shop  and Post Office closes its doors for the last time on March 15th 2008

Arthur Watters and his wife Valerie have called it a day after nearly 26 years running Coxwold Stores, which also means the end of the service they took over from the postmistress whose counter had been down the hill.

Arthur has reached 65, and the prospect of serving a pension to himself is not his idea of retirement. The problem is that no-one else appears to want the job.
